Vacation Day 3 (August 2)

Pretty much every morning there was a slow going one. It was really quite nice. The kids loved everything the cabin had to offer, and enjoyed not having to rush anywhere. I really enjoyed that too.  On this particular morning, the boys had been exploring the outside of the cabin and found some cool bark for Josh to carve.  No fingers were lost in the carving process.

When we finally had enough lounging about, we got ourselves ready and headed out to a reservoir close by to do some huckleberry picking.  It was the same place we had gone picking three years ago, and Savannah really wanted to recreate a picture Scott had taken then.  She put quite a lot of energy into getting the perfect recreation.

After picking for a while, we headed down to the water to play.

My little model.

Then we headed back to the cabin and had a firepit dinner.

I have to explain what Savannah is doing here.  Aaron's latest obsession is Bigfoot.  He watches "Finding Bigfoot" on TV and is convinced they are real.  His biggest goal right now is to find a Bigfoot.  He was sure he would find one this trip.  His siblings played into this obsession by hiding out and doing wood knocks and Bigfoot calls trying to make him think they were a real Bigfoot.  Here Savannah is using a piece of firewood to bang against the tree for a "wood knock", then would run away so Aaron would think it wasn't her.

Cleaning up together in the big tub.

Every night after it was dark, I took the kids out on the patio and read to them.  We did that last time we came here, and read the first Harry Potter book.  This year we read Wonder.  The kids all popped their own bag of popcorn, and we sat out on the big deck and I read to them.  I loved it.
