Nate's Haircut

I cut off all of Nate's hair this morning. I'd been letting it grow out because he looked so cute with it longer.

Cute right? But, lately it's been looking more like this all the time....

He'd wake up every morning with it sticking straight up. I decided that for summer, not only would it be easier to not have to brush it all the time, but it would be a lot cooler for him (no more sweaty hair).

This was him this morning, excited for his haircut.

During the haircut...

And I didn't think to get an "after" picture till we were up at Lucky Peak unloading from the suburban.

His short hair is going to take some getting used to. I keep doing a double take every time I see him. But he looks very handsome, and I'm convinced it will be a better haircut for summertime (then we can grow it out again in the fall/winter).

A Good Day

Day number 2 of vacation went much better.

We all slept in, and then Scott snuck away for a business lunch for a few hours while the kids and I relaxed at home. Then we loaded up everyone and drove up to Lucky Peak Reservoir. This is one of our kids' favorite places. Today's weather was in the 90's so the kids loved playing in the cold water.

Owen was so happy the whole time. The poor thing was strapped into the stroller the whole time, but he didn't seem to mind too much.

Toward the end of our time there, the kids discovered a fun game. They would go to the top of the hill of sand, and then race down to the water and jump in. It looked like so much fun, that pretty soon other kids started joining in. By the end, they had 3 new friends playing with them.

Our time there was just perfect. You can tell by the smiles on the kids' faces in all the pictures, that they had a wonderful time today.

As the sun started to set, the kids started to get cold, so we decided to be done for the day. We drove home through downtown Boise and stopped for dinner at Chili's. The kids behaved great through dinner and ate really well. As we left the restaurant and loaded back into the car, Scott and I made a point of thanking all the kids for their great behavior today. They just were wonderful kids all day long, which made for the perfect day of vacation.
