A Boy and a Box

Remember when Owen built his spaceship out of a diaper box?  He got his hands on another one this week.  He loves any time a box becomes available for him to claim.  He grabs scissors and crayons and just has the best time transforming it into something else.  Josh helped him a bit this time.  I love these boys of mine.

Last Basketball Game

Sara had her last basketball game on Saturday.  She played awesome!  She is one of the tallest on her team, and she is great at rebounding and shooting.  It's been fun to watch her become more confident over the season.  She's a natural!  And on Saturday they won!  It was their last game and their first win.  What a way to end!

Gymnastics and Lunch

Last Friday, Kate went to her first gymnastics class.  I have so many makeup classes from Owen and Nate, so Kate is joining a mom-and-me class from now until the end of the semester, to use up the makeup classes.  She was pretty hesitant at first, and just wanted to hang back with me.

But at the very end, they pulled out the bubbles, and then she got excited.  She loved popping the bubbles.

I'm excited to watch Kate get braver and more confident over the next few months of gymnastics.  It has been something that all of our kids have loved through the years, and I'm excited that it is finally Kate's turn.

After we got home from gymnastics, Scott surprised me by calling to see if I wanted to go to lunch with him.  I so rarely get out the house, so going to lunch is a pretty big thing for me.  So I loaded up the kids and drove to Scott's office and picked him up.  We went to Zupas (which was super busy), but the kids behaved great, and we had a fun lunch out.

Sara's Report

Sara has been working on a research project for the last few months in Challenge.  She was assigned to study Nelly Bly.  Last week, Scott and I got to go to her Challenge open house, and see her present her report to us and other Challenge parents.  She did so wonderful!  I was so proud of her!

Sick Day/Merrill Park

Sara was the next one to get sick.  She got sick Monday night, so she got to stay home from school on Tuesday.  She slept in for a long time, and when she woke up, she was feeling better.  I asked her if she wanted to go to school for half a day, or if she wanted to stay home and do fun things with us.  She chose to stay home.  I figured a day off would do her good.

Since I had Sara home, I couldn't go to the gym for a work out, so we went for a long walk instead.  Owen and Kate rode in the stroller, and Sara and I walked to Merrill Park along the greenbelt (about 2 miles).  Then we let the little kids play, and Scott brought lunch.

Kate liked having Sara there to play with.

When it was time to head home, we decided to have dad give us a ride home (all three kids were tired).  It was a fun afternoon, and an extra treat to get to do it with Sara.

Sick Owen and First Firepit of the Season

Poor Owen came down with a stomach bug a week ago.  He was really sick, and threw up all morning.

Towards evening time, he was starting to feel better, so he came out and joined in our first firepit of the year.
(We had Anne and the kids join us for the firepit, and we had a wonderful time.  I'm so ready for winter to be over.)

But after eating one s'more, he decided he wasn't feeling very well, and he went in to my chair and fell fast asleep.  Poor kid.

Basketball

Sara's basketball coach needed to miss a game, so he asked Scott if he could substitute coach for him.  Sara was so excited to have her dad be the coach!  Scott did a great job!

Random

Sometimes I just have to squeeze random pictures into one post.

I snapped this picture one afternoon, while Owen patiently let his little sister sit on him while watching a show.

Kate is in love with this fluffy tutu.  So is Owen.

Kate had a play date at Zoey's one morning while I went to an appointment with Owen.  It totally wore her out.  I didn't even have the chance to take her up to her crib, before she fell asleep in the chair.

One evening, Dan and the kids came over for dinner, then they played night games in the back yard.  These two little friends loved playing No Bears Are Out Tonight with the big kids.

Nate and Kate snuggled up in my chair.

Owen got a postcard from Goofy.  Randy's son went to Disneyland, and he was kind enough to send a postcard to Owen.  Owen was so excited, and he still carries his postcard around the house.
