Sundays

Sundays are hard.  Our church is at 1:00 in the afternoon, right in the middle of Kate's nap time.  This past Sunday, Owen was so tired, he took a nap on Scott's lap.

Kate made it through church, but came home a very tired and sad little girl.  Poor little kids!

Family Fun Night

Last weekend, the Middle School put on a Family Fun Night.  The admission was a can of food, and the whole night was to benefit the Eagle Food Bank.  They had bounce houses in the gym...

My boys were very excited to ride the mechanical bull.  After a very long wait in line, it was finally their turn.  Owen was pretty scared at first, but he warmed up to it in no time.

Nate talked his dad into buying him some cotton candy, and then proved he could multitask by eating cotton candy and playing a Kinect interactive video game at the same time.

It was a fun way to spend a Friday night!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was on a Saturday this year, which meant that all the school kids celebrated a day early on Friday.  Aaron was my only kid who had to make a box at home (Sara and Nate made them at school as part of their party).  I put Sara in charge of helping Aaron, and she and he made it all by themselves.  I love how creative Sara is!

Nate was lucky and got his dad to come in to help with his class party.

Scott bought the girls flowers - roses for me, and carnations for Sara and Savannah

And Scott bought me a hammock!  I've been wanting one ever since we finished building our new back deck.  He was going to save it and give it to me for my birthday next week, but with all this sunshine, he couldn't wait.  So on Saturday, we all took turns out snuggling in the hammock and taking pictures.

Swimming

Our family joined the YMCA the beginning of January.  I've been really good about going during the week at least three mornings.  I bring Owen and Kate and they play in the child watch room.  Owen really loves going.  Kate tolerates it.  But their favorite is on Saturdays when we all go as a family.  I go upstairs to get in a cardio workout, and Scott takes all of the kids in swimming.  I snapped these pictures of Kate getting a drink, one day after swimming.  She is just too cute for words!

Another Park

One day last week, I was finishing up my morning workout at the gym, and went to the child watch to pick up Owen and Kate.  Owen didn't want to leave yet.  He loves playing there, and always is so sad when I come to pick him up.  So to cheer him up, I promised him we would stop at a park on the way home.  We stopped at Merrill Park and the kids played in the sunshine.

There was a dog there (tied up to a bench), and Kate was very scared.  Every time she heard the dog make a sound, she would start crying again.

It was lunch time, so Scott met us there and brought Wendy's.

Kate loved having complete control of her Frosty.  She ended up with more down her shirt than in her tummy, and required a nice warm bath once we got home.

Donuts with Dad

Every year our elementary school puts on a morning Donuts with Dad.  The kids always look forward to it and have such a fun time.  I'm so thankful for a husband who takes the time to be there for his kids.

Sunny Afternoon

It's been a long winter.  I love that now we can spend some time outside getting fresh air and soaking up the sunshine.  Owen, Kate and I walked down to the tot lot one afternoon.  Dad was home for lunch and was able to come with us for a few minutes.  It was so wonderful to be outside!
