Nate Turns 5

Nate turned 5 years old on the 5th of August.  It was also the first day of our family vacation.  We didn't have to leave here till 3 in the afternoon, so we had most of the day to get packed up and ready to go.  And while I packed things up, Grandma Jo and Grandpa Mike whisked Nate away for some birthday fun.  They took him to lunch at his pick of restaurants (he picked Chilli's), and took him to Build a Bear Workshop where he got to create an adorable green camo colored bear that plays the Star Wars theme when you push the hand.  Then he got to shop at Toys R Us, where he picked out a green Hulk action figure and some binoculars.  He came home very excited about all his loot.

After he got home, we loaded up and set out on our great family vacation adventure (but I'll get to that in another post).  Up at the cabin, Nate picked to have a fire pit dinner for his birthday.

Then we moved indoors for presents. Nate got some walkie talkies, Color Wonders, and three games (Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, and Guess Who Star Wars Edition).  As Nate started opening presents, Owen climbed up and helped himself to a present.  Nate wasn't too happy about it.  Owen opened Candyland and is convinced that it's his.  Everytime he sees the game he yells excitedly, "That's mine!".  Poor Nate.

Then we did cake.  Once again, Owen had to help.

I can't believe Nate is 5.  He'll be heading off to Kindergarten in two weeks.  I've said it a hundred times before, my kids are growing too fast.  I'm so thankful Nate is a part of our family.  He has the sweetest, kindest spirit living in his adorable little body.  When he was a baby, I remember looking into his eyes, and knowing he was meant for greatness.  I love this little boy with all my heart.  Happy Birthday Nate!
