Josh on Vacation

Josh is all boy, and he thrived up in the woods.  He would wake up before the other kids and head out the door without even getting breakfast, because he couldn't wait to get outside and start adventuring.  He caught multiple snakes, frogs, and tadpoles.

But his favorite thing to catch was fish.  Savannah caught one fish while we were there.  Josh caught 10!  He wasn't afraid to catch his own grasshoppers to use as bait, and apparently the fish really liked to eat grasshoppers.  He spent almost all of his time out fishing at the pond.

And occasionally he'd go for a swim.

And when he didn't have a fishing pole in his hand, he had his gun.  He loved getting in some target practice.

Josh is still our little pyro and loved collecting pine needles for the fire.

Josh loved the freedom that he had up there to just be a total boy--fishing, shooting, and lots of dirt.  What more can a boy ask for?

My most favorite thing about family vacation, is that there are no outside distractions.  We don't have anywhere we have to go, and we don't have any little friends coming over to play.  It's just my kids making their own fun.  I loved watching the friendships grow deeper as my kids played with each other during the week.  For a mother, that is priceless.
