Day 9 - Finally Home

We woke up Saturday morning and enjoyed our last hotel breakfast. I was feeling much better this day, but still didn't feel like eating much.

We drove 2 1/2 hours, then stopped for lunch in Winnemucca.  We picked up food at McDonalds and found a park to eat and play.

We had strawberries that we bought at a roadside farmers market in California.  Kate loved them!  She had a chicken nugget in one hand and a strawberry in the other.

She also enjoyed a cinnamon roll that we had left over from the week of groceries at the house.

The park had a merry go round, and Nate got thrown off it and skinned his knee.  He was brave about it.

Then it was back on the road for another 6 hours of driving.  Thankfully, most of the drive was nice and quiet with kids sleeping.

And even when they were awake, they were mostly happy.  We had a continuous showing of movies, and endless food and snacks.  We had bought a bag of salt water taffy when we were on the Monterey fisherman's wharf, and the kids enjoyed almost the whole bag on this leg of the trip.  And nobody puked!!!

We made it home just before 8 that evening.  What an amazing week and amazing journey.  I hope that the kids remember this trip for the rest of their lives - I know I will!
