Owen's Birthday Celebration

Scott flew out for Alaska early this morning. He'll be gone for a week. He took the day off yesterday (all except for 2 hours in the afternoon) and helped me get some yard work done. We did one last mowing of the lawn and got 6 giant black garbage bags of leaves cleaned up. I'd love to say it's all done, but there is still a lot of work to be done as the leaves continue to fall off the trees. But, it was really nice having Scott help me get so much done--it's a job that is usually left for me to do by myself while he's in Alaska, and it is a HUGE job.

Today is Owen's first birthday, but since Scott had to leave this morning, we celebrated last night. Scott's parents came over to help us celebrate. Owen got his present from us earlier in the day (he was a huge help as Scott and I tried to put it together with Owen crawling all over it), and he played in it all day long. He loves it so much, that I think it's going to have to stay indoors through the winter so he can play with it.

The kids loved getting to help Owen open his presents from Grandma and Grandpa. He got some cute new clothes (after 4 boys, all the clothes he wears are a bit worn out), and some fun touch and feel books that make noises.

Then it was time for cake. He wasn't too sure about the candle being lit.

Time to eat cake. At first he wasn't too sure about it, but it didn't take long before he was digging in to his piece of cake and loving it.

Every time he'd finish a piece, Savannah would sneak him another one. By the end, he was a very chocolaty mess--but a very happy one.

So then it was off to the tub to get clean.

Sara and Nate joined Owen in the bath to keep him happy.

I can't even begin to express how blessed Scott and I are to be this little guy's parents. Happy Birthday Owen!
