Father Son Campout

Our Father Son Campout was the middle of May. The boys were so excited for it.  It poured down rain all day on the day they were supposed to go, and I tried to talk Scott out of it. But, he was a trooper and went anyway. He took all 4 boys and took our neighbor Liam because Liam's dad couldn't make it. We took two rows of seats out of the van, and piled all their gear into the middle of the van, and then sent them on their way.

They didn't leave till after 5 (kids don't get home from school till 4:30), and they had an hour and a half drive to the camp, so it was getting dark by the time they arrived.

The camp is near a lake.  The boys went down to check it out, and by the time Scott got down there a few minutes later, most of them were up to their knees in the water (some of them shoes and all).

This was Owen's first time camping.  He was pretty excited about it.

Aaron's latest fascination is Bigfoot.  He is convinced they are real.  He was determined to spot a Bigfoot during this camping trip.  I can't be certain, but I think what he is doing in the picture below is creating wood knocks to lure a Bigfoot closer to camp.  He claims he spotted 3 while they were camping.

Josh shooting a dart gun with his mouth.

They ended the night with ice cream.  Yum!

I can just imagine the fun stories our friend Glen is telling these boys.

Bed time.  Josh and Liam shared a cot, and Nate and Owen shared a cot.

Scott and Aaron slept in the van.

The next morning they enjoyed pancakes.

Owen slept in - for quite a while.  I think the sun coming up and warming up the tent made him want to keep sleeping.

Josh brought his gun to practice shooting.

My happy boys.  I really didn't want them to go in the rain, because all I could think about was how much work it would be for me to clean up their muddy stuff when they came home.  But, I'm so glad they went.  They had a great time.

*Meanwhile back at home, the girls hung out with Anne, Zoey, and Brynne.  We went to dinner Friday night, then hung out at our house and visited till late.  And on Saturday, I stayed home with Kate and Zoey while Anne took the girls to get manicures and gel nails.  Sometimes it's fun not having boys around.
