More Birthday

Aaron is one lucky little boy. First he got to go on his birthday shopping trip with Grandma Jo and Grandpa Mike the week of his birthday. It's a fun tradition that has been started on Scott's side of the family. When it's one of the grandkids' birthdays, they get to go shopping with Grandma Jo to pick out clothes. Aaron went on a day his grandpa didn't have to work, so he got both Grandma and Grandpa on the the shopping trip. He got to pick out some new school clothes (since he will be starting Kindergarten in the Fall) and got to go to a cupcake store and pick out a cupcake for a treat.

Then came the birthday trip to Aberdeen and all the fun things he got to do there (tractor rides, fire station, piggies, etc).

And then the week after his birthday, he got to have a friend birthday party. Several months ago, Scott and I attended a fundraising auction, and purchased this party package at the Meridian Fire Station. It was the perfect things for a 5 year old boy.

First we got to sit and learn about some fire safety tips. They had an adorable kid sized fire suit that Aaron got to wear during the party (the pirate sword was brought from home--who hasn't heard of a pirate fireman?).

Owen was more interested in his toy than fire safety.

Then the kids got to practice escaping from a bedroom in a fire. They had to crawl through the smoke, test the door with the back of their hand to see if it was hot, then climb out the window.

Out at the designated safe meeting place.

Then it was time to open presents.

Then the firemen showed up.

The firemen showed the kids everything about their fire truck.

Then the kids got to take a ride in the fire truck.

Chillin' in the stroller.

Then it was water time. Each kid got a chance to spray the fire hose.

The other kids had fun running through the water. Jake was the first to take his shirt off, and the other boys were quick to follow. It was so cute seeing all these scrawny little boys running through the water without their shirts.

After the water, we went back in for pizza and cupcakes.

It was a fabulous party, and all the kids had a wonderful time.
