McCall

Scott's office was invited by Blue Shield to a thank you/training weekend up in McCall, and spouses were invited.  It was all expense paid and was amazing.  My parents were kind enough to come and stay with the kids for us, so we could get away.  We left Friday around 1, and made the drive up to McCall.  Scott had to be on a conference call at 2, so we tried to time it just right to still have phone signal before getting too far into the mountains.  We thought stopping at Banks would give us signal, but when we got to Banks, there was no signal.  So we backtracked down about 5 minutes till we had between one and two bars of service, and pulled over for Scott to do his conference call.  I didn't mind the view.

While we were stopped, I got a phone call from the Elementary School that Nate was sick and needed to go home.  Aaron and Josh had stayed home that morning sick, and Nate had stayed home the day before, but he'd felt better that morning.  So I called my dad and told him he needed to go pick up Nate for us.  Scott finished up his conference call, and we continued on our way.

We arrived in McCall around 4, and checked into the Shore Lodge.  We settled into our room and just relaxed till it was time for dinner.

A goodie basket gift from Blue Shield.  They really did spoil us the whole weekend.

Dinner was an eat hors d'oeuvres and mingle type of atmosphere.  The highlight was the chocolate platter.

Saturday morning, Scott started early with a meeting, while I slept in a bit.  Blue Shield paid for all the spouses to go to the spa for a treatment, and I picked a massage.  The guys got to go golfing.  So while Scott headed off golfing, I headed down to the spa for a massage.  This was the cute courtyard I got to sit in and relax before and after my massage.

Then I headed across the hall of the hotel and ordered breakfast (also paid for by Blue Shield - they paid for everything).  I enjoyed a quiet breakfast overlooking the lake.  It was awesome.

After breakfast I went back to my room and took a nap.  Then I showered and got ready for the day and read a book till Scott got back from golfing.  He showered too, then we went out for a walk around the resort.

That evening we had a really nice sit down dinner.  The food was delicious!  The next morning we slept in, then got packed up ready to check out.  But before we checked out, we enjoyed some yummy breakfast by the lake.

After checking out of the lodge, Scott drove me over to the golf course to show me where he had golfed the day before.  It was so beautiful!

We stopped for a hike on our drive home.  Last month Josh went on an overnight backing trip to Blue Lake, so we thought it would be fun to do that same hike and see where he had been.  It's just a mile out and back, but is pretty steep, so it was a good hike.  And the lake was gorgeous.

We made it back to Eagle around evening time.  The kids were happy to see us and hear about our weekend.  My parents were pretty eager to get back home, so they got packed up and headed home.  I was so grateful for them spending the weekend with my kids, so I could spend the weekend with my husband!
