Saturday--Thunder Mountain Train Ride

Saturday we took the kids to Horseshoe Bend for a train ride. It was a "Wild West" theme. The kids posed with the soldier protecting the train before we boarded (Aaron was too scared to stand by the soldier).

Boarding the train.

There weren't any seats left of the open train car, so we found seats in an enclosed car.

Then we snuck back out to the open car and just stood along the railing so we could see the scenery as the train went.

Because it was a Wild West train, they had actors come through and set up the story for us. There was a family on board the train that wanted to steal the gold that the soldiers were bringing up to Fort Banks for payroll. When we got to Fort Banks, we got off the train and ate some lunch. Then they had the "Shoot-out". The kids watched a man pan for gold. And they got their picture taken with the actors (except for Aaron, because he was still scared of the soldiers).

We tried to get a family picture in front of the train. Apparently, it wasn't just soldiers that Aaron didn't want his picture taken with.

Then it was back on the train for the trip home.

Owen slept just a little before we stopped at Fort Banks. On the trip home, he just wanted to sit and play.

The soldiers came through and thanked the kids for coming on the train and gave them each a bullet shell from their shootout.

The whole train ride took about 3 1/2 hours. We all loved it!
