Scott knew that I really wanted to go hiking, and the mile round trip to Big Hazard Lake hadn't quenched that thirst for hiking. So he talked Sara into babysitting Kate (and Nate decided to stay home too), and the rest of us tackled Goose Creek Falls. We had tried to do that hike when we were here three years ago, but it proved to be too hard for the kids. This time, the kids persevered and made it. It was a hard hike, so I was very proud of them!
Owen totally surprised us. He made it the entire way! We didn't ever have to carry him. What a tough little guy!
We made it down to the bridge and thought that maybe this was the falls. It was beautiful. But then we realized the actual falls was still a quarter mile away, so we kept going.
The descent down to the actual falls was really steep, and Owen decided he didn't want to try it. So, Scott took the older three down while I stayed up with Owen.
Mine and Owen's view of the falls.
The older kids down at the bottom with Scott.
The kids came back up and we made our way back up the trail. The hike to the falls was all downhill. The hike back to the van was all uphill.
Even through it was a fairly steep hike back up to the van, the kids were champs and I heard very little complaining.
Back at the bridge.
Aaron had gone on ahead, so we were missing him in our selfies. He came back just in time to get in a few pictures.
Savannah was not a fan of the hike up the hill.
Meanwhile back at the cabin, Sara did great babysitting.
