This year in 2nd grade, Nate has the same teacher that Aaron had, Mrs Edmiston. We love Mrs Edmiston. She is an awesome teacher, and Nate was so excited to get to be in her class. In her class, everyone is a Buckaroo.
And everyone gets the chance to be the Buckaroo of the Week. Nate got to be the first Buckaroo of the Week in his class this year. He got to fill out an "All About Me" poster.
And we got to go to his class for his special Buckaroo presentation. We got to plan and bring a science experiment to perform for the class. We did the floating egg. Nate filled two jars with plain tap water, then put an egg in each jar. Both eggs sunk.
Then we took the eggs out and put salt into one of the jars of water.
Nate stirred it all up.
Nate's teacher gave him the lab coat to wear, so he would look like a real scientist, and broadcast him onto the screen at the front of the room.
After Nate stirred up the salt water, we needed to let the salt sit and dissolve. So we went on to the next part of his Buckaroo presentation. He got to bring his favorite book and read his favorite part in the book to the class.
Then he got to show everyone his All About Me poster.
Then he got to take questions from the class. He answered them like a pro.
Then it was back to the science experiment. We put the eggs back in the jars. This time the one in the plain water sunk, but the egg in the salt water floated!
It was such a fun morning! I loved getting to watch Nate take center stage and feel so important.
