A few years ago, I was getting burned out on doing big birthday parties ever month. Seriously, every month. Except June. Our kids' birthdays all have their own month, and we hit April, May, July, August, September, October, and November. It was just too much. So I implemented an "even birthday party" rule. We only do big friend parties on the years they turn an even number. And on the other years, we just do something fun as a family.
This year was an even year for Nate. 6 years old. So he got a friend party. We rented a bounce house, and played some games in the backyard.
We played Duck, Duck, Goose.
My girls did face painting on the kids.
Aaron was a robber.
Nate was Olaf from Frozen.
Josh gave his sisters permission to do whatever they wanted. I think he regretted that.
We fed the kids otter pops.
The cute group.
The best way to contain Kate outside--in the swing.
Opening presents.
Cupcakes. Vanilla and Chocolate.
Kate enjoyed both kinds of cupcakes.
As the party wound down, Aaron's robber face evolved into Bigfoot.
And Sara got a camo face. I gotta say, there was a little bit of panic at our house afterward, when we discovered that the black paint didn't "just wash off" like the instructions said they would. It took about four thorough washings before my kids had nice pink faces again.
