Girl's Camp

Last week Savannah went to her first Girl's Camp.  I was so excited for her to get to go.  I remember going as a young woman, and going as a leader, and it's such an amazing experience.

For this post, I thought I'd let Savannah do the writing.  I figured the best way to learn about her adventures at girl's camp, was to hear it in her own words.

"Girls Camp was super fun.  When we arrived the first day, we found out the people in our tents, and then had to set up our tents.  In my tent, was Rachel Madsen, Allyssa Pinder, and Ashley Saxey (my YCL's), Lauren Kelley, Alexis Palmer, and Paige Dildine.  The rest of that day we just played games.  We made tin foil dinners on top of the fire for dinner.  We stayed up talking that night, and then I had a hard time sleeping because it was uncomfortable."

"The next day, we had to wake up early, eat breakfast, and make our lunches for our hike.  We left to go on the hike.  The hike up was super hard, and I got super tired.  Once we got to the top, there was a gorgeous view of a lake.  We ate lunch and had a devotional.  And then we hiked back down, which was much easier.  Once we got back to camp, we went down to the lake by our campsite, and swam and rode around in blow up rafts."

I guess the hike was harder for some, but Savannah seemed to love it.

"On the third day we did a service project and pruned most of the trees on the campsite.  Later that night, we did a faith walk.  The leaders had set up a trail with different stations with a young woman value at each station.  There was a posterboard with the value, and a bunch of questions for you to ask yourself.  Based on how you felt you were doing, you would pick up a rock, and put it in your bag (big rocks equal not so good, smalls ones equal good).  At the end of the trail, there was a tent with a picture of Jesus and a scripture that talked about how he takes our burdens for us.  Then we took out all our rocks and laid them at His feet.  Then on our way out of the tent, we were given a letter that our parents had written to us about a time they had a change of heart (our theme).  After everyone finished the faith walk, we had testimony meeting from 1-2 in the morning!"

"On the last day, we worked hard to pack up everything, take down our tents, and clean up the campsite.  We left and drove to Banks, where we went white water rafting.  The water wasn't very white, though, because of a landslide that happened earlier that week.  It was still fun, even though the water was brown, not white.  Everyone took turns sitting on the front of the boat, which was the funnest spot.  There were lots of big rapids, and some small ones.  On the small ones, our guide let us get out and float them.  On one extremely big one, one of the girls went flying off.  It was extremely funny.  We were all super bummed when it was over."
