Nate Turns 6

My little Nate turned 6 on August 5th.  Savannah was away at Girl's Camp, so she missed his birthday.  But Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen came that night, so we had enough people here to celebrate with him. And it's always a good day when you get to help mom make birthday brownies (and lick the bowl clean).

Present time.

Nate got a big coloring book and crayons from our friend Randy.

He got a big bag of ring pops from us.  He was pretty excited about those.  He did end up sharing a few with his siblings.

Josh gave Nate 6 one dollar bills.  Nate thinks he's rich.

And Nate got a horn from us .....

To go on his new bike!

Nate's old bike (with training wheels) has been broken all summer.  I have tried several times over the summer to get him to ride Aaron's old bike (without training wheels), but he was just too scared.  So he went the whole summer without riding a bike.  Poor kid.  He rode scooters, trikes, hot wheels, on the back pegs of Aaron's bike, but he didn't ride a bike.  He hopped up on this new one, and he was so nervous.  I kept reminding him that he was safe because it had training wheels, but he still proceeded with caution.

After he'd had time to ride around for a bit, we headed back in for cake and ice cream.

Kate enjoyed the cake, too.

We love our little Nate so much, and are so thankful he is part of our family.  He will be heading off to 1st grade in a week, and I am going to miss him so much.  He is sweet (most of the time), tender hearted, and such a great kid.  We are so lucky to have him!  Happy Birthday Nate!
