Scott and I went to Sun Valley this past week. It was wonderful. We left early Monday morning (6:30 am) and made the 3 hour drive. It was Scott's annual (second year now) sales training meeting. He had meetings on Monday from 10am-3:30pm and on Tuesday from 9-noon, and the rest of the time we had to play. On Monday I had grand plans of hiking and exploring while he was in meetings, but instead ended up taking a 3 hour nap in our room (in the Sun Valley Lodge). It was very needed. When Scott was done with meetings, we had a late lunch down by the ice skating rink and watched the ice skaters. Then we headed into downtown Ketchum and did some window shopping. Then we met up with Matt and Angie (Matt is from the Idaho Falls office) and had dinner at the Pioneer Saloon.
After Scott's meetings on Tuesday, we drove 30 miles outside of Sun Valley to the Galena Lodge area. We had arranged to do a trail ride with two other couples (Matt and Angie from the Idaho Falls office, and AJ and Tessa from Scott's office here). This cabin was over 100 years old and the guys that do the trail rides actually live in it (no indoor plumbing or running water).
Getting dressed up for the trail ride....
Then it was time to get on the horses. Neither Scott or I had ever ridden a horse, so we were really quite nervous. But every single one of the horses they had were very slow and gentle, so it was really quite easy. Scott got to ride Big Miss (she was a big horse) and I rode Maddy (very gentle and well behaved).
Brandon was our trail leader. He was an adorable kid from Oklahoma who hoped to save up enough money to buy his own horse.
We rode up a mountain trail....
Crossed a few streams....
Had amazing views....
And ended at a lake. We dismounted and tied up our horses to some trees.
We hiked over to the lake and enjoyed the views.
Then we climbed back on our horses and made our way back down the mountain.
The trip took a total of about 4 hours, and it was such a blast. It was so far outside our comfort zone, but was such a fun experience. Scott had been very hesitant to do it, but he was very glad I talked him into it.
That night we had dinner at the Lodge, then went to see "Super 8" at the Sun Valley Opera House (it's converted into a movie theater). It was a great day!

How fun to get to spend the day with your husband. I love days like that. It is always a great reminder why you love them in the first place :)
