Special Olympics State Football

A few weeks before Josh's state football games, their team found themselves short a coach, and asked Scott if he would become one of their coaches.  Scott was more than happy to step up and help, and Josh was so excited to have his dad as his coach.  Josh had a great time practicing with the Ghostbusters team, and was so excited to get to go to State with them.  He was even more excited to have Scott go along as a coach.

State was held in Moscow at the University of Idaho.  Scott and Josh set out on Friday, June 19th, on their great adventure.

They took a "short cut" (Big Flat Road) which ended up to be quite the adventure.

They stopped in New Meadows at the city park and had lunch with the team (the team took a bus up).

It was long, long drive.

They finally made it to the U of I.

Josh wasn't sure about dorm living.

The opening ceremonies.

(Pulled Pork for dinner, and toilet paper up his nose for a bloody nose.)

Two Tired boys.

Breakfast with the team Saturday morning.

Ready for the games.

Getting interviewed for the local paper.

Medal ceremonies, the team took Bronze.

Closing ceremonies.

These guys truly love Josh.  He's their little brother.

Back to the dorms for bed.

Sunday they packed up and headed home.  Scott decided to take a detour and go home through Pomeroy, Washington, to show Josh where Grandma Jo had grown up.

The tractor store where Scott's grandpa Jim worked.

The cemetery where Scott's grandparents are buried.

The garden that Scott's grandma cared for (not as well maintained as when she was alive).

The house that Jo grew up in.

And the long drive home....
