Home

Scott was supposed to be in Alaska for 9 days - Saturday till the next Sunday.  The night before he was scheduled to come home, he called to say that the storm that had rolled in, made visibility too poor for the plane to fly.  He would have to stay another day, and hope the storm cleared for him to fly out the next day.  Sunday evening came, and we waited for his phone call.  He called around 4:30 that afternoon and said the storm seemed a little better, but he wouldn't know for another half hour if it was clear enough for the plane to fly.  He suggested I gather the kids around and pray for the storm to clear.

I gathered my kids into the living room, and asked if one of them would pray.  Aaron immediately volunteered. Without any prompting, he offered up a sincere prayer.  He asked that the snow would stop so dad would be able to come home, but asked that if it didn't, we would all be ok with it.  Half an hour later the phone rang again.  The flight had been canceled.

We all went to bed that night very somber.  The kids were worried that the storm would never stop.  We all were just ready to have dad back home with us again.  Monday came, and we all went about our day, hoping that today would be the day that he would be able to fly out.  When this email came through that afternoon, we all celebrated.

Scott flew from the mine to Anchorage Monday night, then hopped on a Red Eye to fly through the night to come home to us.  Tuesday morning, after I got the older five kids off to school, I took my two little ones to the airport to pick up dad.  They were very happy to finally have dad back.
