Road to Recovery
I can't say that Nate's recovery was smooth sailing. He spent a week and a half sleeping out on the couch in the living room so we could hear him if he needed our help. Each morning he would wake up miserable and crying in pain. It would then take about 15 minutes to convince him to take some pain medication, with him crying "It takes yuck!" and "It hurts to swallow!". Finally, I'd force him to take the medicine, and once it kicked in, he would do much better.
He felt well enough to make it to Thanksgiving at Grandma Jo's, but
wasn't up to going to his cousin's baptism on the Saturday after
Thanksgiving. I'd say Sunday (day 10) was when he finally started to
improve. And on Monday he went back to school (so the only day of
school he missed was the Friday he had his tonsils out). It was a
pretty lousy Thanksgiving break for him, but I'm hoping it will be worth
it in the end.
