Pinewood Derby

This year Scott had a work trip the week of Aaron's pinewood derby (he got back the afternoon of the race-April 14th), so he had to work on Aaron's car early (instead of scrambling to finish it the night before, like usual).  Aaron was so excited to get to race his car.

Gabe slept through the whole thing.

The track had 4 lanes and had a computer at the end that timed each car in each race.  Each car raced 8 times (2 times on each lane), and at the end the computer tallied their total time racing and ranked them.  Aaron only lost one race toward the beginning, and only by a fraction of a second (his car got faster as the wheels warmed up).  Because he'd won so many races, we knew he'd be in the top three.  When third and second place were announced and his name wasn't called, we knew he'd taken first.  

Aaron was so excited.  Last year he lost every single race, so this year it was great to see him get to win.  

Aaron's smile continued even after we got home.  He was so happy!
