With Scott's upcoming Alaska trips, we needed a little quality time together. My sweet friend Kendi, offered to stay with our kids overnight so Scott and I could have a little getaway. I was blown away at her offer - who volunteers to take on 7 kids!? And I felt really guilty actually taking her up on her offer, but a night away with Scott sounded so wonderful, so we did it.
We went to dinner with a client/friend and his wife (Mike and Marie), then went to the BSU football game with them. We were up in Scott's company's suite, so we were shielded from the cold rain that fell all night long. After the game, we checked into a hotel in Boise (the Riverside Hotel). The next morning we enjoyed the complimentary Sunday brunch at the hotel, that was more dessert than breakfast.
Then we rushed home in time for us both to teach Primary lessons. Kendi got all the kids ready for church and we just met her there. It was a short getaway, but was so incredibly wonderful. Taking care of these 7 kids is such a full time job, it leaves very little time or energy to think about being a wife. I feel guilty that Scott only gets the tired, exhausted, stressed out Karen at the end of the day. This getaway was relaxing and fun, and was just what we needed.
