After all our walking the day before, we were ready for a more relaxing day. So, we decided to go see Mammoth--which entailed a lot of driving. We spent most of our time sitting in the suburban looking out the widows at the road construction. We did make a short stop at Roaring Mountain along our drive.
We finally made it to Mammoth and walked around the Upper Terrace. It was beautiful.
Then we drove down to the Lower Terrace. We all used the bathroom and started in on the lunch I had packed. And then those dark clouds that you see in the pictures above, decided to start poring down rain. Luckily, the rain storm was short lived and before long we were able to hop out of the suburban and do some walking around the Lower Terrace. Once again, it was beautiful.
Then we piled back in the car for the long drive home. Nate was just a little tired.
When we got back to the cabin, we had dinner and cleaned ourselves up. Then Scott and I took the older three kids (Grandma and Grandpa babysat the two little boys) to the Playmill Theater. We saw "Beauty and the Beast". The girls loved it, but Josh was just a little scared of the beast (they did a really good job on his mask/makeup). We were seated just a few feet away from the Beast's room in the castle (where the enchanted rose is). After the opening scene with the Beast right there, I looked over to see Josh with his eyes covered. I gave a little tug on his hand to reveal that he was crying. Poor thing. So we did some seat rearranging so he was sitting on his Dad's lap and right next to me, so he'd feel safe. He continued to plug his ears through every Beast scene, but there were no more tears. The performance was great. All the kids were pretty giddy on the walk back to the cabin afterward, and couldn't stop talking about how great it was.
