Vacation Continued Some More...

One of the greatest things about the cabin in Banks, was that we were able to just sit back and enjoy not having to do anything. The kids roved being able to just roam around playing
We went on a hike while we were there.
Aaron was very excited when we had to cross the creek. He thought we were true adventurers.
We hiked around the ranch land and found the horses that we had ridden the day before.
Aaron was a little worried the horses might attack us, so he was prepared to fight them off with his stick.
Another favorite was the firepit area. We had fires two out of the three nights we were there.
Poor little Owen's nose. It was so raw and sore from all the wiping. When we got back home, Scott took him to the doctor--he had an ear infection and a sinus infection. For being such a sick little boy, he was still very happy on our trip.

Who doesn't love s'mores?
More fire pictures.
(I love Nate sneaking marshmallows in the pictures above.)

Does this scream "Lord of the Flies" to anyone else?
It was such a fun vacation.  I loved watching my kids become better friends while we were there.  We all can't wait to go there again next year!

Family Vacation Continued...

One of the highlights of our trip, was the trail ride. The excitement was palpable as the horses arrived...
Aaron and Nate were too young to come on the longer trail ride, so they got to ride the horses around the cabin area for just a bit. It was just long enough for Nate to let out a "Yee-Haw" and declare himself a real cowboy...
Nate, Aaron, and Owen stayed behind with Grandma while the rest of us went on a two hour trail ride...(When the kids put on their helmets, Scott thumped Josh on the head.  I guess the helmet didn't soften the blow, because Josh immediately started crying.  He recovered quickly, though.)
Once we all got mounted on our horses, we headed out for the trail ride. I'm pretty sure my kids will never forget those two hours. They loved it, and so did I.
When we got back, Owen was awake from his nap, so he got a turn on a horse. He wasn't a fan.
More fun still to come....
